DOGFIGHT v1.1 (c)1992 Slayer Soft Graphics and Program by Steve Camber. Game Design by Jim Beard. Date of completion : 31/10/93 (10/31/93) This was programmed on a 1MB 520STFM, and I cannot guarantee that it works perfectly on other ST's. If it doesn't work properly, please contact me at the address given at the end of this text. It must be run in low resolution. Instructions ------------ This game is a shoot-em-up style in the sky. Four planes battle it out for air supremacy. Each plane can be controlled by either the computer or a human player. Also, planes can be grouped together in teams for extra fun ! Computer controlled planes can be set to one of 5 levels - CPU1 is the easiest and CPU5 is the hardest. Human planes can be controlled by joystick with a keyboard option open for one player only. JOY0 = Joystick in mouse port JOY1 = Joystick in joystick port ! JOY2 JOY3 - these last two are accessed by using the joystick adapter for the printer port, as used in "Gauntlet 2", "Kick off 2", "Leathernecks" etc.... KEYS = Left shift - Left Right shift - Right Control - Up Alternate - Down Caps Lock - Fire on/off In the game, UP = Accelerate DOWN = Decelerate RIGHT = Turn Clockwise LEFT = (Anti/Counter)-Clockwise FIRE = Let 'em have it ! "ESC" = Quit current game "P" = Pause "S" = Game Statistics Menu ---- The Menu before each game is used to set the game variables. It is under the control of the joystick in port 1 JOY1, (and also the cursor keys + ENTER). By moving the joystick and hitting fire you can change - 1. Each player's name. 2. Each player's control method. 3. Each player's team. 4. Which planes are playing next game. 5. Whether planes can collide or not. 5. The amount of shots needed on target to shoot down a plane. 6. The amount of points which must be attained for victory, or the amount of planes each player starts with. 7. The amount of cloud cover. 8. The Game type: POINTS : First to reach set score wins the game PLANES : Last remaining team or plane wins. ELIMIN : Like 'planes' but if you shoot down a plane, you get a bonus plane. Features -------- Occasionally, a spanner will appear on the screen. The first plane to touch it will get totally repaired ! When you shoot a plane, your score increases by 1 point, and the plane you hit gets damaged and loses some speed. When you shoot a crashing plane, you don't get any points, but your plane gets repaired slightly !!! If you shoot it enough times, it will explode into bits which can be very satisfying !! Planes which are on the same team cannot shoot each other, but they can still collide into each other !! Team scores are indicated at the bottom of the screen. When being persued by a computer controlled plane, one sure way to shake him is to head for cloud cover, then turn sharply while hidden. The computer will assume you have continued in the same direction and speed, but will double-back when you do not appear on the other side of the cloud !! In the first few seconds after a plane has appeared on the screen, it will not have a steady colour (color!). This means that the plane cannot shoot, get shot, pick up a spanner, or collide with another plane. This is to allow the player (and the other players) time to prepare for battle !! Chocks away ! --------------------------------------- I'd love to get some feedback from this game, so mail me at this address which is good for many years to come.
